The Simplest Test Method To Determine If Potassium Humate Contains Fulvic Acid

As you know, Humic acid can be mainly divided into fulvic acid, brown humic acid and black humic acid. Fulvic acid is the smallest part of humic acid, which is soluble in both acid & alkali; while other components are insoluble in acid. We can use this feature to easily identify whether the humic acid product you bought contains fulvic acid.

Method: Take 0.1g potassium humate dissolved in 1,000 ml water (both tap water and pure water), dilute 10,000 times, add a small amount of sulfuric acid (or hydrochloric acid or nitric acid) to PH about 2-3, stand still for 10min, filter it and observe the filtrate color & filter paper residue. The darker the color of the filtrate, the higher the content of fulvic acid; the more residual filter paper, the lower the content of fulvic acid.
